The Final Fifth of 2009, The Final Fiftieth of The ’00s
October 20th, 2009
Both the year and the decade are coming to a close. The holidays are upon us and before we know it, we’ll be living in the ’10s. This time a year I tend to get a little nostalgic and contemplate the long road behind me and the mysterious one ahead. I like to assess how things have been going and then devise a new life strategy going forward. I also like partying and living up the time as much as possible before it passes.
I’ll be spending these next two weeks enjoying myself going camping to see the autumn foliage and the mountains, and celebrating Halloween for all it’s worth. Then as soon as November arrives I’ll be “going into the studio”. I’ll become extremely scarce, and pretty much lock myself inside my office and coffee shops to bang out the rest of this novel. I always work so much better under pressure of deadlines, and I’m feeling just about ready to hit it hard as my self-imposed Thanksgiving end point to finish the rough draft looms closer and closer.
Then as soon as the turkeys arrive, I’m going to shelve the book and begin knocking out my end of year lists for Ohmpark. I’ve actually already began putting those together a little bit, and I’m confident I can finish them way earlier than I ever have before. This year I decided to give an extra effort to stay up with record releases better and I don’t think I’m going to have to comb over other people’s lists looking for things I missed like I have in the past, or at least nowhere near as extensively. So I will hopefully have all of that done by Christmas, and then I can spend my winter vacation relaxing and doing absolutely nothing productive. After the New Year, I’ll probably do an End Of Decade album list for Ohmpark, and then put the blog on hiatus for a couple of months to edit and finish the novel and brew up some even newer projects.
2009.8 – 2010.0, let’s do this.
